Alliance
The Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Study is the proud sponsor of the Potential Space event, a forum for encounters between art and psychoanalysis and between the creative individuals who make up our community. Alliance artists are welcome to exhibit, read, or perform their art.

A change is coming ...

As we announced April 8 at the Forum conference, the Potential Space is in search of a new home. The Alliance community has been making the Potential Space an annual arts event to look forward to, and remember, since its inception in 2004. We want to
let you know what's happening now, and how you can get involved.

To start with the key point: Our longtime venue at the Center for Urban Horticulture (CUH) is no longer available to us. New management there has changed its mind about allowing art to be hung from the picture rail and on the wall dividers. The CUH has been an ideal home in certain ways - large but shapeable, aesthetically lovely, accommodating to performance as well as visual arts. Being housed there has also shaped the Potential Space into a format that hasn't changed much in recent years.

Continuity is a gift, but so is change. Those of us who currently serve on the Potential Space committee have felt disappointed at the loss of our venue, but we are also excited at the chance to reimagine what the Potential Space could look like with a new venue.

Because of the loss of the CUH, we will not be having a Potential Space event this year (2017) but we do anticipate beginning again in 2018!

This year instead ...

We will have a lively gathering of the artists, committee members (past and present), volunteers, and audience members of the Potential Space. In short, anyone who is interested in participating and supporting our adventure in creating and recreating our much-loved Potential Space event. We would love your ideas and feedback on any changes that you personally would like to see in the coming years. We also have a few venue possibilities that we are excited about and would like to get your vote on these possible venues.

Please join us...

Come join us at Janice Hickey's home (the founder of the Potential Space) for a few hours of fun, idea sharing, and support of one another as we work to keep the arts alive in the Alliance community.  We will have wine, nonalcoholic beverages, and appetizers.
