Webinar Class: Does the Intrapsychic Creative Countertransference Generate Transference in the Patient? Franco Scabbiolo

Saturday, October 6, 2018 10:00am to 11:30am
Center for Object Relations
Sponsored by:
COR

Over the course of this nine month webinar series, Franco Scabbiolo will try to develop the innovative idea that, in the cases of patients with significant internal object abandonment, the creative countertransference generates a transference process that allows the patient to become alive, first internally, then externally. Scabbiolo will use clinical material, articles, literature, and film to throw light onto the complexity of this phenomenon.

The main points that Scabbiolo intends to explore and elucidate throughout the webinar series are:

  • The intrapsychic countertransference in the analyst creates the transference in patients with a significant internal object abandonment.
  • The analyst’s countertransference is the first step in the critical psychic creative work needed to allow the emergence of the patient from depression, thought disorders, delusions and confusions.
  • The analyst’s preformed countertransference reinforces the internal object abandonment of the patient.
