Emily Taylor, LMHCA
I am a life-long student of psychology. I first became intrigued by psychology and the human experience by reading authors like Dostoyevsky and trying to get along with my roommates. My more recent (and official) training has been in Psychodynamic and Relational theories of psychology. While some therapies focus on thoughts and behaviors, I look toward the depth of personhood: what motivates you; where do you find meaning in life; how have your relationships shaped who you are? I believe that relationship is a deep resource for healing even as it a place of wounding for many of us.
I have experience with the following issues: depression, suicidality, and/or self-harm behaviors, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, disordered eating, anger, relational strife, family of origin issues, sexual trauma, addiction recovery, anxiety, obssesive compulsive disorder, LGBTQ and sexual identity issues, and systems of oppression
Relationships are an important focus of my work. I use the therapy space to explore how relationships, both past and present, have shaped and continue to shape who one is and how one lives, moves, and speaks in the world. The more relationships are explored, understood, and lived into, the greater healing one can find in various arenas of life.
