Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Study
The Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Study is a Seattle-based, non-profit interdisciplinary
organization that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors and nurses. The
Alliance is dedicated to making psychoanalytic knowledge available and useful to interested
professionals and to the community at large in the Pacific Northwest. The Alliance welcomes
those professionals of the mental health, health care and human services, regardless of academic
discipline, who seek the deeper understanding that psychoanalysis can provide.
Activities
Professional Meetings: Regular Evening meetings which provide opportunities for presentation
and discussion of psychoanalytic thought.
Educational Courses: A variety of offerings each quarter, including clinical case conferences.
Special Events: Conferences featuring nationally and internationally known psychoanalytic
speakers.
Annual Events: Year-end Forum conference featuring day-long series of presentations by local and
regional psychoanalytic thinkers.
Study Groups: Facilitation of local study group efforts. Newsletter Regular publication mailed to
Alliance members to distribute information about activities of the Alliance and other
psychoanalytic organizations in the community.
Film Series: A series of selected films offered for viewing to professionals and community at
large interested in film and analytic themes.
Library Resources: Access to Alliance library holdings and, through a reciprocal agreement,
access to the library of Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.
Newsletter: The Alliance offers members the opportunity to share their writing in the Forum, which
is published 3 times a year.
