Study Group Info:
This group (not a class, I will be learning with you!) will take a deep dive into the work of Jacques Lacan, starting from the beginning. We will (as slowly as we need) read Bruce Fink's book, A Clinical Introduction to Lacanian Psychoanalysis: Theory & Technique. No prior knowledge of Lacan is required, and the well-studied are also welcome. If you happen to speak French, I'll buy you a coffee once per month for attending. I will also suggest reading Annie Roger's The Unsayable before or during the group for a readable introduction to Lacanian ideas in practice. I hope to co-create an environment where we can introduce Lacan's theories in a manner that impacts how we think about and play with the unconscious and leave space open to explore the limitations of his ideas.

Facilitator Bio:
Pete has been in practice for 20 years and focuses on children, adolescents, adults and couples, and often works with individuals with severe anxiety, including obsessions and compulsions. Pete is a recent doctoral graduate from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles where he learned almost nothing about Jacques Lacan. He has a background in group work, cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral traditions. Pete is on the faculty at The Seattle Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
